Part 4 - The Cost of Poor Data Quality

This post is the forth and final in a series related to this important topic, and builds on the information previously presented. If you have not read the previous posts, Part 1, Part 3, and Part 3 may be found here and here, and here respectively.

The power of high quality data, managed alarming capabilities, pre-calculated KPI values, and access to high interval trend data for analysis purposes cannot be overstated. These benefits alone are game-changing improvements to daily operations and critical reporting activities for many of our clients, but there is still additional benefits.

Real time fleet-wide awareness.

Many of our clients have multiple renewable assets they own and operate or operate on behalf of an ultimate owner. The ability to stay aware of each operating renewable facility, answer questions quickly, and make information-based decisions directly supports profitability. The underlying data quality, alarm management, and KPI roll-ups Acuity provides via edge processing lay a solid foundation for supporting fleet-wide awareness tools.

FOCUS, Aderis Energy’s cloud-based aggregation platform delivers our customers with fleet-wide monitoring and management tools for this very purpose. Unlike other cloud based monitoring systems, where raw is sent to cloud servers for processing and display, FOCUS takes advantage of the Acuity edge computer’s pre-validated and pre-calculated KPIs to display alarm statuses, performance indicators, and production summaries to communicate overall facility operational health at-a-glance.

FOCUS received up-to-the-minute KPI data every 5 mins from each Acuity edge computer, and shares that single data feed efficiently with all the users authorized to view that Facility. In this way, cellular bandwidth and cloud-server hosting costs are quite low. All the real work is being performed at the edge. This allows Aderis’ service fees to remain extremely competitive, further supporting our customer’s profitability through lower operating costs.

The concept behind FOCUS is to provide at-a-glance information for Operators to quickly identify where faults and underperformance issues exist, then provide the tools they need to access supporting details in only a few clicks.

Although FOCUS relays largely on KPIs for its initial “Operations” dashboards, graphs, trends, and even cycle-level fault event files can literally be accessed within seconds from a single interface.

So, is poor data quality holding your business operations back?

If so, you would not be the first customer to switch to Aderis Energy for this reason alone. Our staff has a unique perspective on our client’s requirements, because we are owner/operators ourselves. With past development experience, and an active DER fleet of over 200MW under O&M management, we develop and use our own solutions to support our own profitable operations.

If all this seems too good to be true, or you just need to see it to believe it. Give us a call and schedule a demo today. We’ll show you how we use these tools to operate our own fleet, and address your specific questions and concerns with real world examples.
